Scienceworks is Australia’s most popular hands-on science and technology centre. With constantly changing exhibitions and displays, live demonstrations, tours, activities and shows, Scienceworks provides a family-friendly environment for exploring the science that surrounds us every day.
Scienceworks is also home to the Melbourne Planetarium, the Lightning Room and the historic Spotswood Pumping Station.
Scienceworks’ permanent and regularly changing touring exhibitions appeal to curious minds of all ages. Exhibition highlights include Think Ahead (imagining the future), Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together an exhibition for babies to 5 year olds, and the ever popular Sportsworks (exploring the science of moving your body).
The site also features a unique piece of Melbourne’s history – the historic Spotswood Pumping Station. The Spotswood Pumping Station began operating in 1897 as a key component of Melbourne’s first centralised sewerage system.
Scienceworks is open everyday 10.00 am – 4.30 pm (closed 25 December and Good Friday).
Adult admission fees apply, children are free. Additional charges apply for Melbourne Planetarium, Lightning Room and some exhibitions.
