Welcome to our INTERACTIVE WILDLIFE GARDEN!

At Orford Primary School we have been designing, building and creating life-size endangered Tasmanian wildlife, along with their habitats, in an effort to raise awareness for these endangered animals.

Our 'Interactive Wildlife Garden' will include eight different animal exhibits; Loggerhead Sea Turtle, Tasmanian Devil, Spotted-Tail Quoll, Wedge-Tailed Eagle, Spotted Handfish, Maugean Skate, Swift Parrot and the Sub-Antarctic Seal. Each animal has been made to realistic size and created using life-like materials. The exhibits will showcase these beautiful Tasmanian animals and their habitats, while also educating visitors on the cruel reality these animals face towards extinction.

The exhibit will engage all of your senses. Listen to the animals in their natural habitats, hear their cries for help, their fears. Look closely at the animals and their exhibits, what can you see, what do you notice? Use your sense of smell to identify the plants within their habitats. You are invited to touch the animals, what do you feel, what do you wonder? Students have also created newspaper articles to showcase their learning about the impacts of pollution, commercial logging and human impact on these animal species, ready to share and explain to all visitors and community members.

Be prepared to get creative as our exhibits also offer arts, crafts and experimenting to all visitors. Trace your hand and cut it out to add to our Spotted-Handfish awareness wall, plant a seed in a pot of soil in support of our Swift parrot and Wedge-Tailed eagle. Make a mask and write a message for the Tasmanian Devil.

Our Interactive Wildlife Garden is suitable for children and adults of all ages and offers exciting opportunities for everyone to help make a difference.
