Mount Burnett Observatory is an astronomical observatory in the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne. Since 2011, it has been managed by MBO Inc., a volunteer based astronomical association dedicated to preserving the observatory and encouraging astronomy and science in the Dandenong Ranges and beyond.
The Observatory offers a wide range of member activities from astronomy lectures and Young Observer groups to astrophotography and deep sky viewing.
In addition, there is a busy outreach program and that introduces the public to astronomy. Talks, dome tours, guided viewing and hands-on fun caters for groups up to 40 people of all ages and backgrounds as well as individual visits.
MBO is also regularly involved in community events and festivals, sidewalk astronomy and science programs.
