A Read4Nature workshop was held in each of the Wimmera Regional Library Corporations 8 major branches during the last fortnight to short-list and review picture books for their value in inspiring a love of nature and providing good science about living things, with which most children have little or no direct contact nowadays.
As it is the Australian Year of the Farmer, each workshop focussed on reviewing the farm/ garden picture books which will be made into a resource for the library to be presented at the National Science Week event in that library.
Each participant chose a couple of books and developed a Nature Science based activity to share with a small group of children, whom they invited to the library for their National Science Week.
Funded by an Inspiring Australia Grant to Jeanie Clark of enviroed4all, and in partnership with Wimmera Regional Library Corporation.
