Thank you to the over 35 applicants who put forward incredible ideas for Science Week activities in 2018. We received over $60 000 of funding requests for event ideas from across Western Australia. Applications were reviewed by an independent subcommittee from the WA Coordinating Committee for National Science Week.
Applications were only considered if the proposed activity met all mandatory, and any additional desirable criteria. The Committee was able to award $30 000 in small grant funding to 19 successful applicants this year, with the majority of our grant applications coming from libraries and community resource centres across the state.
Supported activities in 2018 include the creation of a science comedy show, podcasting workshop for scientists, magnetic science toy expo, armistice code-breaking, and ‘star-grazing’ activities across WA.
